MCLEAN, VA – A tense armed standoff is currently underway outside the CIA headquarters in Fairfax County, Virginia, after a man reportedly opened fire with a shotgun and made alarming statements referencing Osama Bin Laden and former President Donald Trump.
According to law enforcement sources, the suspect was observed sitting on a bench near the facility’s main entrance on Route 123 before discharging his firearm into the air.
The incident prompted an immediate lockdown of the CIA headquarters and a massive law enforcement response.
Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), CIA Police, and federal authorities have established a perimeter around the scene, located at Georgetown Pike and Dolley Madison Boulevard.
A SWAT team and crisis negotiators are actively engaged, attempting to de-escalate the situation. In addition, the Fairfax County Police Bomb Squad is also present as a precautionary measure.
At approximately 10:35 a.m. EDT, DMV News Live reported that emergency responders had taken tactical positions around the suspect, who remains armed.
The Fairfax County Police Department issued a public advisory confirming that Dolley Madison Boulevard is closed in both directions between Georgetown Pike and Savile Lane due to what they described as a “barricade incident” at CIA headquarters.
Law enforcement officials continue to urge the public to avoid the area as they work to resolve the situation safely.
