HOPEWELL, VA — A man is dead and a woman is in custody following a fatal stabbing that occurred just after midnight Thursday in Hopewell. Police have identified the victim as 41-year-old Sharod Tucker, a local resident. The deadly incident unfolded in the 200 block of South 4th Avenue.

Hopewell Police say they were called to the scene at approximately 12:01 a.m. on May 1 after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered Tucker suffering from a stab wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The area was secured as detectives launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities arrested 46-year-old Raimona Renee Freeman of Hopewell at the scene. She has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and is currently being held without bond at Riverside Regional Jail. Police have not disclosed any details about what led up to the stabbing, and the relationship between Freeman and Tucker has not been confirmed.
