OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A hospital employee was shot Thursday morning in the parking garage of Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, prompting a temporary lockdown of the facility and nearby schools.
The incident occurred just after 7 a.m. on March 20 at the hospital located on Dequindre Road. According to Troy Police, the suspect, later identified as Robert Paljusevic, fired a handgun five times, striking the victim twice.
The victim, a 25-year-old male from Troy, was rushed to the hospital’s emergency room, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Authorities confirmed that he is expected to survive.
Police stated that both the suspect and victim were employees of the hospital, and the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack.
Following the shooting, Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Nearby schools and daycare centers were also notified and placed into a soft lockdown until the suspect was located.
The suspect fled the scene but was later found at a residence in Macomb Township on Breezeway Drive.
Officers took him into custody without incident.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the attack.
The investigation remains active, and police are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
