Gunfire in the Night at The Hideout: Multiple Shot, One in Custody

Around 11:50 p.m. Saturday night, dread shattered the quiet of The Hideout community in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania. Emergency dispatchers began receiving frantic 911 calls: multiple people had been struck by gunfire at 10 Lakeview Drive, and help was needed immediately.

By the time law enforcement arrived, at least three individuals with gunshot wounds had been confirmed at the scene. Two of those were rushed by ambulance to a makeshift staging area, where medical helicopters awaited. They were airlifted to regional trauma centers for critical care. A third victim — also seriously injured — was carried by ambulance to a nearby hospital. At last check, the precise conditions of their injuries remained undisclosed.

Pennsylvania State Police officials from the Honesdale Barracks confirmed that at least one suspect is now in custody, though it’s not yet clear whether others are being sought. Local authorities have not revealed a motive or what led to the gunfire.

The Hideout neighborhood has been placed under lockdown. Officers have also shut off segments of Miller Road in Salem and Lake Townships, sealing the area off while investigators comb the scene. A heavy law-enforcement presence remains, with state, county, and local units jointly conducting the investigation.

While the investigation is still in its early stages, officials say they will release further details as they become available. In the meantime, residents are strongly urged to steer clear of the area and heed directives from officers on scene.

A tragedy unfolded under cover of night in a place many consider a quiet refuge. The sense of safety that hides behind familiar roads and friendly faces was torn open. And now, as the community reels, every piece of evidence, every interview, every witness account may be the key to understanding what went so terribly wrong — and preventing it from happening again.
